The Shiraz Republic
After having a lot of fun with their show with us in December, Bendigo’s Four Lions are returning to the Shiraz Republic on Saturday, March 17th with support from Canberra’s Barren Spinsters.
Four Lions are like a musical cocktail with nips of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Replacements, Ryan Adams, The Lemonheads, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, REM, Oasis, & Wilco.
Four Lions have released 3 albums (Charing Cross – 2015, Vahland – 2016, Golden Triangle – 2017), with their fourth album, Hard Days, due for release in early 2019.
Four Lions were formed in December 2014 by singer/songwriter Shann Lions while he started recording “Charing Cross”. Four Lions has Bendigo’s answer to Nels Cline on lead guitar/vocals Keith MacQueen who is suitably supported by music teacher Stephen “Skywalker” Briggs on the Keys/Hammond, local music shop owner Greg Perry on bass and Gav “Shooter” Moncrieff who is a VCA percussion graduate on drums/percussion.
Hold your applause till the end as you never know what bombshell The Barren Spinsters will drop on you next. Their relentlessly energetic sets are designed to surprise and excite as they take their audiences on a ferocious live revue.
Experienced song writing duo Brendon Houlahan and Matt Tennant deliver distinctive arrangements in an uncompromised live show without resorting to using loops or samples.
With their unique, multi-instrument setup they are hard to categorise but difficult to ignore, as there’s always something there for everyone.
As always, you can expect some great food, great wines and great beers on tap for you to relax and enjoy in our spacious cellar door. Make use of our free pool tables, inside and out and plenty of picnic tables & couches for you to relax, unwind and enjoy good conversations at The Shiraz Republic.
Lunch from 12PM. Music from 3PM.
