Well, the growing season is about at the half way mark; New Years Eve.
Bud burst in early September, harvest in early March.
The fruit is filling out, the days are hotter, the training wires are all raised to the top staple (lifting the vine canopy and opening up the fruit to the sunlight).
December has been drier than usual, about half the average rainfall. Temperatures just a little over the long term average.
Normally in December This Year
| Average Min | 11.4°C | 11.5°C | |
| Average Max | 27.0°C | 28.5°C | |
| Rainfall | 41.8mm | 19.0mm |
We walk each day through the vines in the early morning, trimming, dropping a little fruit here and there, starting to count the chickens...
The fruit looks good. The vines look good. The job is half done. Happy New Year.
